SoulFire STUDENT Ministry

SoulFire Student Ministry is for all students from 7th to 12th grade and meets at Oakwood on Sundays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (calendar below for specific dates). Our goal is to offer a place for students to come together and learn that they are not alone and that there is a God who not only loves them but will always be there for them. We teach Biblical messages on topics that are relevant to the students' lives. Our team of adult volunteers love students, listen to them and enjoy spending time with them. We want to encourage students to pursue a stronger relationship with God, and learn to follow His plan for their lives.

Throughout the year we host a number of events and take students on retreats. We also work with the students to serve our community through service projects and also participate in mission trips.

Check back here often for the latest news on upcoming events or service opportunities!

  • uninvited for teen girls

    Monday Evenings 7:00pm to 9:00pm

In this six-session study Lysa TerKeurst helps us to explore the roots of rejection; the lies we believe as a result; and the truth about who God is, who we are, and what it looks like to live loved. The enemy wants us to feel rejected...left out, lonely, and less than. When we allow him to speak lies through our rejection, he pickpockets our purpose. Cripples our courage. Dismantles our dreams. And blinds us to the beauty of Christ's powerful love. Study guides are $13 and can be purchased from Lindsay Collins or Melisa Hall. If you have questions please contact Melisa Hall 248-515-9027 or

  • Soulfire M.S. & H.S. Christmas Parties

    Sunday, December 17th @ 6pm

Students - join us on Sunday, Dec. 17th from 6-8pm at the separate middle school and high school Christmas parties! Remember, everyone is encouraged to dress festive and there will be some awards given for ugly sweaters, and other creative outfits. Middle school students will be at the Stec’s house (621 Akram, Oxford) and should bring a white elephant gift & (if you can) a snack, appetizer or dessert to share. High school students will be at the Jackson’s house (516 Leece Rd, Ortonville) and should bring a handmade ornament to hang on a tree that tells something about you. (It could be something related to a sport or hobby, somewhere you’ve traveled to or lived, etc. - anything small enough to hang on a tree that tells something about you.)

SoulFire Ministry Team

  • My wife, Sandy, and I have been married for 11 years, and we have two young boys - Jesse & Simon. We love serving the Lord together as a family and it is our goal to put Christ at the center of everything that we do. I have a passion to serve individuals and families that have been affected by disabilities and we have already started taking initial steps to get a focused ministry of this kind off the ground here at Oakwood. I enjoy reading, fishing, family time and date nights with my beautiful wife.
