Common small group questions
WHEN and WHERE do small groups meet?
Oakwood’s small groups meet in a variety of locations both in homes and at the church campus. We have groups meeting every day of the week except on Saturdays. Most of our groups meet in the evenings for a couple of hours. We do have a few morning groups specifically for men and women. Take a look at the list on the back of this page or on our website to learn more.
What is the COMMITMENT that I need to make to a small group?
Most of our groups meet on a weekly basis in three different “semesters” each year – fall, spring and summer. Groups will meet anywhere from 8-12 weeks each semester and we encourage you to commit to a full semester, if possible. Of course, many people will stay with their group over the course of the full year or longer.
Can I attend as a SINGLE adult or WITHOUT MY SPOUSE?
Absolutely! Small groups are not just for couples and we have many single adults involved in our groups ministry. While couples are encouraged to attend group together, we understand this isn’t always possible.
Is CHILDCARE available?
Each group handles child care in different ways, as needed. We want our families to be connected in groups. If you need childcare in order to participate in a groups, contact Pastor Shane or talk to a group leader and see what options are available.
How do I SIGN UP for a small group?
There are two easy ways to join a small group throughout the year. You can use our website to sign up online by browsing the groups listed below and contacting the group leader. You can also contact Pastor Shane at firstname.lastname@example.org or 248-464-3248 if you have questions or would like to join a group. During the fall and at the beginning of the year we usually offer sign-up opportunities at the weekend worship services, as well.
