Hello Great Family,
The Jackson family had a great wedding last weekend. Everything was beautiful and stress free. I am thankful God sent Pastor Ted & Jen to Oakwood. It is a blessing to have the confidence knowing that things will go well when I am away. I am back and excited to start our next sermon series this Sunday.
For the next 6 to 8 weeks, we will be looking at the book of Daniel. The title of the series is, "Brave - God-Sized Confidence". My goal is to focus on how we can live here as, "aliens and strangers" and still be effective for God. The book of Daniel gives us some role models to follow. By looking at the lives of Daniel, Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael we can see what it looks like to live bravely for God in a culture that is opposed to Him.
The Bible has always told us that this world is not our home. But for a long while it's felt like it might be. Now our culture is changing - and we're starting to feel like strangers in our own land. It is tempting to grow angry,or keep our heads down, or give up all together. But, this isn't the first time God's people have had to figure out how to live confidently and faithfully in a society that opposes God's ways and God's Word. We have done it before and we can do it again.
Come join us at 9am or 11am to participate with the great family at Oakwood. Just stay away from the fiery furnace and the lion's den we set up as decorations.
One reminder, we are having a work day at our church facility tomorrow (Saturday, April 13th). We plan to start at 9am and work til around 2pm with lunch provided for those who serve around noon. We can use some help. Any amount of time you can give will be appreciated. Bring some work gloves, buckets, rags, rakes and shovels if you can.
Thanks for being a part of the great family at Oakwood Community Church. You are the part that makes us great!
God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
