Hello Great Family,
Day 6 – Hope & Help for the Oxford community. I hope being WITH people at church was good for you today. I pray you are encouraged and experiencing God’s peace.
Here is what Oakwood did today:
- The great family at Oakwood was welcoming and loving and we welcomed one another and many new people to worship today. It was clearly God’s timing for us to move to two services…we would not have fit in one service today. It was encouraging that families and individuals from our community decided to join us. Let’s be ready to keep welcoming and loving them to Jesus.
- The Elders and many others in our church had great moments of prayer with people. A great ministry to share burdens and lift spirits.
- The professional Christian counselor who sacrificed her time to serve our church spoke to several people and truly helped in a special way. We were blessed to have her here!
- We announced our plans to give a special Christmas gift bag to the staff at Oxford High School. A generous donation has spurred us on to expand our effort to include everyone who serves our students at the High School including transportation, kitchen staff, etc. Don’t get me wrong…it’s not all covered but with such a great start we believe you can help us do even more. Go to https://www.oakwoodcc.org/give and click on “Give Online Now” then be sure to click on the drop down box that will say “General Fund” and choose the option “Oxford High School Staff Christmas Bags”. Make your donation soon so we can purchase the items and prepare these gift bags this week.
If you did not hear my announcement at church, my good friend and mentor Mel Walker has gone to be with Jesus and I have been asked to participate in his funeral in eastern Pennsylvania this Tuesday. I’m sorry to leave during this time but I need to be there. Our office staff is excellent, and they will keep everything moving forward as we continue to offer help and hope to the Oxford community.
God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
