Hello Great Family,

I intended to do the typical message to remind you of all the important things coming up at Oakwood, but as I watched the devastating weather event happening in America's Southeast, I feel compelled to turn your attention to the ministry of DRAW (Disaster Relief At Work).  I will still list some Oakwood news and notes at the end of this communication.

DRAW’s team has been monitoring Helene’s path and impact for more than a week. On Friday morning, the operations team packed and sent the first load of response supplies out of their HQ, and those supplies will be distributed to hurricane victims in need before the weekend is over. From there, DRAW will continue to be in contact with communities in need, and they are ready to funnel continued support to those in Helene’s path. I am encouraging the great family of Oakwood Community Church to help support this effort.

Being the church is more important than just doing church.  Oakwood is at our best when we serve selflessly in our community, country, and world.  Let's BE God's effective church!

Here are some other items to be ready for:

  • This Sunday is the 5th Sunday of the month.  That means that I get to lead worship!  We are going to celebrate our JOY in the Lord energetically and with much passion.
Listen and practice the worship set by clicking here.
  • We will be finishing last week's message this Sunday.  You can prepare by reading Philippians 2:12-18.
  • Mt. Candy has made a reappearance in my office.  Help us prepare for our annual Harvest Fest by bringing wrapped Halloween candy to make Mt. Candy grow.
  • Family Nights begin this Wednesday!  Preparations for food, rooms, materials, etc. are being finalized and we want to make sure your family gets included. Have you signed up for an equipping group yet?  Are your kids / grand-kids signed up for Treehouse? Get all your registrations done this Sunday!

Looking forward to seeing you at Oakwood this Sunday (9am or 11am).

God Bless,
P.D. (Psalm 139)
